Yanchep Lagoon is a 600 m long section of shore, paralleled by a beachrock reef, which is attached to the shore in the south with an opening to the north. Two beaches are located behind the reef. The southern beach (WA 894), also known as Fisherman's Hollow, is completely enclosed by the reef, which connects with calcarenite points to either end of the 250 m long beach. It is backed by vegetated bluffs rising to 15m with a blufftop car park above the centre and steps down to the beach. The beach is relatively narrow and steep, with a usually calm lagoon, particularly at low tide, and waves averaging 1 m breaking over the reef located 50-80 m off the beach. Water depth varies in the lagoon, with both shallow sandy sections and some deeper holes.
Beach Length: 0.25km
General Hazard Rating: 4/10
