Evans Bay is a 1.5 km wide northeast-facing bay bordered by Evans Point and 21 m high Ida Point. The bay contains a curving 2.3 km long white sand beach (Q 215) which receives sufficient wave energy to maintain a 300-500 m wide ridged sand flat (Fig. 6.38), with the number of ridges increasing for three to five in the south. It is a low narrow beach backed by a densely vegetated narrow band of beach ridges then the steeply rising bedrock slopes.
