North Beach is 2.5 km in length running from Norries Head due south to the mouth of Cudgera Creek and Hastings Point. It can be reached on foot from the Norries Head car park and in the south from a small car park on the dune at the southern end of the beach, just north of the creek mouth. The beach contains two bars in the north which merge to one in the south as a result of the protection from Hastings Point. The central-northern section contains an attached inner bar cut by rips every 300 to 400 m, a trough and an outer bar with more widely spaced rips. In the south there is just the inner bar, plus Cudgera Creek which exits on the north side of Hastings Point producing strong tidal currents that maintain a deep channel and shoals on the beach side. Consequently on a falling tide, strong tide and rip current are a problem north and south of the patrol area, so stay between the flags and away from the creek mouth.
Beach Length: 2.5km
General Hazard Rating: 6/10
