Cat and Kitten Beach (NSW 490) is a 130 m long strip of sand and backing boulders bordered by Murramarang and Wilfords points, and backed by densely vegetated slopes rising to 20 m (Fig. 4.361). A small rock islet and 47 ha Brush Island lie directly offshore, lowering waves to usually less than 1 m. These maintain a narrow high tide beach, almost awash at high tide, fronted by a low gradient continuous low tide terrace, with numerous rocks in the surf. Higher wave generate two boundary rips and a central beach rip.
