The Basin (RI 11) is a popular picnic and swimming spot, backed by four Norfolk Island pine trees, shelters, a picnic area and toilet facilities. The narrow 200 m long beach is wedged in between a low calcarenite bluffs, including a protruding central section and an intertidal platform with several large tidal pools. There is sand then reefs beyond the platform. The platform and outer reefs resulting usually calm conditions at the shore.
