Blacksmiths Beach (NSW 250b) is the home of the Swansea-Belmont SLSC founded in 1927. Access to the beach is provided right along the 1.5 km long Blacksmiths beachfront, with car parking and a large park and picnic area at the southern end. This end of the beach faces east and receives increasing protection from Swansea Heads, Moon Island and the northern entrance wall. As a result, over the southern 3 km of the beach a single bar dominates, and the rips while still prevailing all the way to the wall, became less intense and less active to the south, particularly under southeast waves (Fig. 4.147).
